Kitigan Zibi celebrated Remembrance Day yesterday at the community cultural center.

The master of ceremonies, Stephen Mcgregor, was dressed as a Second World War paratrooper to recount the landings of June 6, 1944.

Their very basic equipment included a chocolate bar. The latter often ended up being offered to local children. For this reason, chocolate bars were distributed to the children during the ceremony.

For the former Kitigan Zibi band chief, Gilbert Whiteduck, knowing this information is essential to the commemoration

A bell dress made on site will be exhibited in a European museum to illustrate the link between Kitigan Zibi and the old continent.

Mr. Whiteduck shares the importance of this garment in Indigenous traditions:

The Maniwaki Royal Canadian Legion was present at the ceremony.

A Memorial Day commemoration was also held in Kazabazua last week.
