This November 10, 2024, Frédéric Lopez welcomed three new guests in A Sunday in the Country. On the occasion of this new episode, the host received Christophe Michalak, Sandrine Bonnaire but also Emmanuel Moire. The opportunity for the latter to confide in many episodes of his life, in particular a tragedy: the death of his twin brother.
Indeed, in 2009, when he was famous, the singer had to face this mourning: “I learned that my brother had a car accident, that he was run over,” he begins by describing. “He was put in a coma for two weeks and little by little, when we brought him out of the coma, we saw clinically in his brain that there was no one left.”
Emmanuel Moire looks back on the death of his twin brother
Emmanuel Moire can only see that his brother's health is deteriorating: “It was a real choice to make: either we keep him alive at the risk of recovering someone we didn't know… or let him go. The choice is difficult.”
Thus, in consultation with his parents, the singer will make the painful decision to unplug his twin brother. “I am surrounded by my parents and I feel helpless. I am in disarray and in pain. We decided to let him go“he confides with great emotion. Emmanuel Moire will then be questioned about the possibility of donating his brother's organs to a person in need.
Upsetting confidences
With eyes full of tears, he confides: “I think it’s cool that it helps someone who needs it.”
And with this drama, Emmanuel Moire realizes that he has just lost the person he has lived with all his life : “It was at the moment when I lost him that I realized that I was a twin, before I had never asked myself the question. I had the feeling that a part of me no longer existed. It It’s been a long road to learn to live without my brother”.
For the artist, this drama will follow him throughout his life:
“It will remain a big injury for me”. A moving testimony for someone who lived through a very dark period. Even today, the singer is very moved when he talks about his twin brother.
