50 residents evacuated, two people hospitalized

Sunday November 10, 2024a dramatic scene took place in the Marivaux district from Amiens. At the end of the afternoon, a fire broke out in a seven-story building located on rue Montaigne, mobilizing a large team of firefighters to bring the situation under control. This significant event required the evacuation of many residents, plunging the neighborhood into chaos.

Apartment fire: rapid intervention by firefighters

Shortly after 5 p.m., firefighters received the call reporting a fire on the sixth floor of the building. Smoke escaping from the apartment quickly alarmed residents, leading to a hasty evacuation of approximately fifty people. The evacuation operation lasted for several hours, before the occupants were able to return to their homes around 9 p.m.

Intense mobilization to control the flames

To fight the flames, no less than 35 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, accompanied by around fifteen emergency vehicles. The situation was delicate, the apartment from which the fire started having suffered considerable damage, leaving behind a spectacle of desolation.

People hospitalized after smoke inhalation

During this intervention, around twenty occupants were exposed to harmful fumes. Emergency services took the decision to urgently transport two people, aged 9 and 28, to the hospital center to receive the necessary care. Their condition was considered worrying, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.

New housing for disaster victims

Due to the extent of the damage, the social landlord AMS was asked to rehouse the two people directly affected by the fire, whose accommodation was completely destroyed. This disaster highlights the importance of fire safety and the need for constant vigilance in residential buildings.
