-2 metal detection arches recently appeared at the Quebec courthouse.
Visitors to the Quebec courthouse must now pass through one of the two metal detecting arches which have appeared recently.
Security is therefore reinforced at this location.it is because in addition those who wish to circulate there must submit to a summary search of their personal effects.
These measures have appeared, near the southern entrance (rue de la Gare-du-Palais), which is now the only entrance accessible to the public. It is no longer possible for visitors to enter the building from the main door located on Boulevard Jean-Lesage.
This measure is permanent, the authorities indicated. The new system created some congestion by taking visitors by surprise at the start of the day, when there were several minutes of waiting.
Security cordons have been added to facilitate the process and a fast-track lane is available to staff.
The Legault government announced in June an investment of $31 million to increase security in several courthouses.
