A large fire brigade was mobilized during the evening of Sunday November 10, 2024 to overcome a flag lightin Bernes-sur-Oise (Val-d’Oise).
The alert was given around 10 p.m. According to the first findings made, the disaster started from the Vmc Defective (controlled mechanical ventilation) in the bathroom. THE fire then spread quickly to the entire 1st floor of the house on rue des Coquelicots then to the roof.
The 29 mobilized firefighters deployed four spears including one on one on the large scale to put out the flames. “The entire floor was destroyed as well as a large part of the roof which had to be removed during the intervention,” indicates an agent from the Val-d’Oise Departmental Fire and Rescue Operational Center.
However, no one was injured and the occupants of the pavilion were absent when the disaster broke out.
Vmc at the origin of many fires
Every year the Vmc are at the origin of many fires that start with the engine of the group. As the dust ignites, the particles present in the ducts promote the spread to the attic and sometimes throughout the house. “VMCs are therefore devices rightly considered to be at risk in terms of fire,” indicates a study carried out by the Lavec laboratory. It is therefore recommended to carry out regular maintenance (ducts included), if possible with an annual frequency according to the
manufacturers’ recommendations.
