Members of the Canadian Armed Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, veterans and their loved ones attended the Remembrance Day ceremony yesterday in Maniwaki.
A parade of Mont-Laurier air cadets and the Maniwaki cadet corps took place for the occasion. In addition to the formal speeches of the dignitaries present, priest Mario Thibault, member of the legion, recited a prayer.
The president of the Royal Canadian Legion of Maniwaki, Marc Begley, was delighted with the progress of the celebrations:
The latter was visibly happy to see a corps of cadets again in Maniwaki. He also invites young people aged 12 to 18 in the region to try the adventure and join the organization.
The poppy sale ends today. The amounts collected, which have not yet been counted, will help support the Maniwaki cadet corps as well as veterans and their families.
