A first edition of the Awards for Excellence in Research, Creation and Innovation

University is launching for the first time a call for applications for the Awards of Excellence in Research, Creation and Innovation. Awarded by the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Creation and Innovation, these new prizes will recognize and honor the exceptional achievements of the research community, increase their influence and promote their societal impact.

The prizes will be awarded for the first time on May 27, 2025, during a gala organized at the closing of the first edition of the Grand Rendez-vous de la recherche:

  • The Lumière prize celebrates a remarkable discovery or breakthrough. A prize will be awarded in each of the three disciplinary sectors

  • The Innovation Prize highlights the exceptional quality and impact of a technological or social innovation

  • The Audace prize rewards the audacity and excellence of a creation or a research-creation approach in a university environment

  • The Impulse Prize highlights the research excellence of a faculty member at the start of their career

  • The Foundation Award honors the exceptional career of a faculty member

  • The Catalyst Prize recognizes the exceptional contribution of a professional research person

  • The Pillar Prize highlights the exceptional contribution of a person in administrative support to research

  • The Essor prize recognizes, in collaboration with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, the research work and contribution within its host unit of a postdoctoral trainee

  • The Élan prize celebrates, in collaboration with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, exceptional theses in the three sectors

“The vitality of research, creation and innovation at Laval University positions it as a leader in Canada and internationally. Through these prizes, we want to recognize within our university the talent and audacity of our research community, because it is one of our great prides,” asserts the vice-rector for research, at the creation and innovation, Eugénie Brouillet.
