The interview devoted to the documentary Alphas, broadcast Sunday evening on Tout le monde en parole, continues to cause a lot of ink to flow.
Journalist Simon Coutu was on the set of -’s Sunday high mass to talk about his documentary which will be broadcast Monday evening on Télé-Québec and which focuses on the discourse that wants men to take back control of their lives and become “real guys” again.
As soon as the guests of the week were announced, there was a major outcry. Journalist Simon Coutu was to be accompanied by Julien Bournival and Joël McGuirk, two of the people featured in the documentary.
During the weekend, a major protest movement and the creation of a petition which quickly collected more than 25,000 signatures led the show’s producers to reconsider their decision.
Podcaster and influencer Joël McGuirk was finally disinvited and replaced by political science professor and specialist in issues of feminism and masculinity, Francis Dupuis-Déri.
It was therefore with great curiosity that we awaited this interview and we must say that the result was confronting to watch, but still fascinating.
Entrepreneur and content creator Julien Bournival appeared defensive and aggressive from the start of the interview, defending his philosophy and values. But he found himself in visibly hostile territory and the exchanges with Francis Dupuis-Déri, Guy A. Lepage and Véronique Cloutier, also on the set as a guest, gave rise to tense exchanges.
In the last hours, reactions have been extremely numerous on social media. We see to what extent these are two diametrically opposed visions of the world which clash. There have been numerous comments criticizing Julien Bournival and his conservative vision of society. But there is also a whole segment of the population who defend it and who find that the general media and programs like Tout le monde entalk are too left-wing and disconnected from the real world.

Half the year (and more) I don’t work and I’m a dad at home while my wife goes to work. I don’t look after my children while waiting for my wife to come back. I’m doing my job as a parent.
I take care of the house. I do the washing. I make the meals. I do the dishes. I’m going to pick up my children from school. I give baths, I read stories. I tell my children that I love them and I kiss them before bed. And when my wife leaves to shoot for 70 hours a week, I tell her everything is fine, darling, I’ll take care of everything, have a good week at work. And I’m proud to be a stay-at-home dad. And I really piss off the masculinists of this world. »
