Encouraging beginnings despite obstacles
The Alpine A424 was not spared from mechanical hazards, notably during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where a double retirement tarnished the hopes of doing well. However, the team was able to bounce back by winning significant places afterwards. These include a fifth place at Lone Star Le Mans, a third place at the 6 Hours of Fuji, and a solid fourth position at the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain. At the end of this first campaign, the 2024 results of the Alpine A424 translate into a podium, three top fives, nine top tens, a best race lap and four appearances in Hyperpole. A performance which testifies to the potential of the car and the commitment of the team.
Constant progress
Bruno Famin, Director of Alpine Motorsports, is optimistic for the future. According to him, one of the highlights of this 2024 season is the collective work carried out by the drivers and the entire team: « Individuals put themselves at the service of the project and have always worked with the same objective: to progress the team and develop the potential of the A424, all within an extremely strong collective. The season was free of outings, which is valuable during a learning year. Over the course of the races, and depending on the circumstances, we also saw them take turns distinguishing themselves on the track when necessary. We saw it again today and we can be proud of the work accomplished by our seven drivers and the entire team. »
2025 in sight
Among the drivers, Charles Milesi, who contributed to the performance of the #36 Alpine A424, praises the progress made throughout the season: “It was a positive season overall. We have made a lot of progress throughout this year. However, we know that we still have a lot of work to achieve our future goals and we will focus on our next tests in order to get closer to the forefront in 2025.”
A studious winter awaits Philippe Sinault’s team which, we bet, is aiming for a rise in power and a place on the podiums in 2025, while consolidating its status among the major manufacturers in the Hypercar category.
