If you're having trouble using Android Auto on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone after the latest November 2024 security update, you're not the only one.
A few days ago, Samsung rolled out an update that brought changes to the “ Auto Blocker “. The problem is that it could prevent Android Auto from working when connected via USB cable.
Indeed, the November 2024 update adjusts the Auto Blocker functionality to block all USB connections, except charging. With this feature, Samsung aims to improve the security of its devices. But it also has the effect of preventing Android Auto from working via a wired connection, but only if you have activated the “ Maximum restrictions » d’Auto Blocker.

Samsung update may break Android Auto
Fortunately, this mode “ Maximum restrictions » is not enabled by default. So only users who have already activated it will face this problem. If you notice that Android Auto is no longer working, you will simply have to disable this mode.
To do this, go to the Settings of your Samsung smartphone, then go to “ Security and Privacy “, Then ” Automatic blocker » and deactivate the option “ Maximum restrictions “. After which, Android Auto should work normally again over the wired connection.
If you want to keep the Auto Blocker feature for added security, just make sure to keep the “ Maximum restrictions ” disabled. You may, however, be asked to enter your PIN if you decide to completely disable Auto Blocker.
This update therefore gives Android Auto users a bad time on Galaxy smartphones. But fortunately it is a simple problem to fix by adjusting Auto Blocker settings. This way you can continue to enjoy Android Auto, with or without this additional security feature.
