A few days ago, the body of a 68-year-old woman was discovered without her apartment in Trier. Very quickly, the autopsy confirmed the first suspicions: the death was due to the intervention of a third party.
It takes little time for investigators to identify two suspects: a 39-year-old man from Trier and a 36-year-old Romanian national. The investigation has gained serious momentum in recent days. We learned that the two suspects went to Romania immediately after the incident.
The couple arrested in Romania
On November 8, the Trier district court issued a European arrest warrant against the couple. The latter was finally able to be located in Romania. Thanks to collaboration with the Romanian authorities, the two suspects were arrested and imprisoned by the Romanian police. The Trier public prosecutor’s office requested their extradition to Germany. However, it is the Romanian judicial authorities who will decide.
Based on the information gathered so far, it is likely that the defendants acted out of greed. Cash and other valuables were stolen from the victim’s apartment.
