A decisive passer despite himself on Alexandre Lacazette's goal, Corentin Tolisso once again delivered a solid performance against AS Saint-Étienne. Seven years after his last derby, the OL midfielder is savoring this victory.

He was carted away by Alexandre Lacazette but Corentin Tolisso delivered another solid match Sunday evening against theAS Saint-Étienne (1-0). Perhaps less influential than in recent times, but still just as valuable in the high pressure exerted by theOL. He even allowed himself the luxury of being decisive with a return that turned into a pass for Lacazette in the 29th minute. He had fun with it after the match.

However, Tolisso retained above all the pleasure of having rediscovered the joys of the derby and above all of having won, even if it was not necessarily in style. “It has a special flavor because I am from and I have known it since I was very little. I experienced quite a few derbies in my youth, but also as professionals. Some went well, others a a little less, but today we managed to win, even if everything was not perfect, the midfielder conceded. We will retain the result. A derby is not played, it is won, it's a vague phrase, but it's the truth.”

Until the end of next April, the derby will be red and blue and Corentin Tolisso still hopes “that we will win at Geoffroy-Guichard, that would be a good thing”. Two victories in two derbies after two seasons of waiting, the results would be more than positive for Lyon supporters. But also the local players. A native of Tarare, the 2018 world champion has been exposed to regional rivalry, enough to make him lose the pin on certain…

Sunday evening, maturity took over to calm things down when necessary. But the joy is always so special upon arrival. “It's a huge pleasure, especially when you've been experiencing it since you were little. I really know this rivalry between Lyon and Saint-Étienne. I've always experienced these matches differently, today, I experience them from the inside, so I I'm happy, especially when they end like this.” Now time for a little rest with another objective from now on: to continue to stay in the lead in Ligue 1.
