Who killed 19-year-old Betty Szabó? This is the question that has tormented the Dutch police since February 20, 2009, when the lifeless body of Bernadett “Betty” Szabó was found. The young woman, a prostitute of Hungarian origin, was brutally stabbed at her workplace in the “red light district” in Amsterdam.

15 years later, Amsterdam police are preparing to use a life-size hologram to try to arrest his killer. With the agreement of Betty Szabó’s family, a 3D model of the young woman was reproduced. Sitting on a stool behind a window and reaching out to passers-by for help, her image will be broadcast from a window in the red light district for a whole week.

The representation of the young woman is “the last attempt” of the police to elucidate the murder: she hopes that the hologram of the young woman “will help people feel connected to her” and will encourage them to come forward if they have information to help advance the investigation.

“The investigation team is determined to find the perpetrators and can use all the help they can get. It is never too late to speak out (…) Do you remember something that you may not have not reported, but which could be relevant to the investigation? Or do you have other information? So don’t hesitate and contact the police?indicates the Amsterdam police on their X account.

Law enforcement is also offering a reward of 30,000 euros for information leading to the resolution of the case.
