A few days before the referendum on the new constitution, the Colibri association, a fervent actor in civic and environmental development in Gabon, is increasing awareness initiatives. Determined to raise awareness and promote a fairer and more harmonious society, Colibri calls on the Gabonese to vote massively “Oui» on November 16, 2024, in a burst of civic responsibility. Under his leitmotif “Do your part for Gabon», this campaign is much more than a simple electoral mobilization: it stands out as a real movement of social and political transformation, led by committed Gabonese youth.

Since October 14, 2024, the members of Colibri, nicknamed the “hummingbirds» because of their determination to accomplish small actions with big impacts, travel through the 1st, 5th and 6th arrondissements of Libreville to dialogue with residents and raise collective awareness. By offering clear and accessible explanations on the issues of the new constitution, these young volunteers are committed to demystifying the referendum process.

At the heart of their action, the campaign entitled “My vote, my commitment, my part for Gabon» demonstrates a desire to make each citizen responsible for the future of the nation. Supported by organizations like The CTRI Panthers and the Popular Youth Front (FPJ), this campaign is being deployed with a clear objective: to motivate the Gabonese to go to the polls to say “Oui» to a renewed future.

The president of the association, Charlotte Aboughe Otsaghe, perfectly sums up the spirit of this mobilization by declaring: “In a national exam, 100% does exist, although rare; candidates who score 160/173 will be received with honorary distinctions! We can only support the new Constitution.” His message echoes Colibri's vision: building a Gabon where each citizen, like the young hummingbirds, actively contributes to building a better society.

Vote Yes 173 times: An Act of Hope for a New Gabon

The notion of “Vote 173 times Yes » launched by Colibri embodies an unreserved commitment to the new constitution and its values. Far from a simple slogan, this symbolic figure refers to the number of articles of the constitution which, as a whole, redefine the bases of Gabonese society. By asserting a “Oui» to the fundamental values of the country, Colibri encourages citizens to protect the family unit, to guarantee democratic alternation, to put an end to the hereditary transmission of power and to limit presidential mandates. Vote «Oui“, it is also saying yes to the rediscovered greatness of the Nation, to the responsibility of former heads of state and to the dignity of the Gabonese people. Each article carries a promise of hope for the renewal of Gabon, a promise that the association invites citizens to honor.

The Colibri campaign, supported by inspiring speeches and local actions, intends to overcome the scourge of abstention which threatens certain districts of Libreville, notably the fifth. By increasing the number of meetings, distributing explanatory documents and leading debates, the hummingbirds seek to make the day of November 16, 2024 a historic moment, where every Gabonese is an actor of change.

With the contagious energy of its young volunteers, the Colibri association positions itself as a leading actor for a modern, just and united Gabon. “Don’t let anyone decide for you anymore, be an actor in your future,” proclaims one of their messages. On November 16, 2024, Colibri calls on the Gabonese to seize this unique opportunity to build together a future marked by dignity and respect. For the association, this vote is much more than a political choice: it is an act of faith in a stronger Gabon, supported by its citizens.
