Referendum 2024: the Colibri association mobilizes Libreville residents for a massive Yes | Gabonmediatime.com

A few days before the constitutional referendum on November 16, the citizen association Colibri is intensifying its local campaign in the neighborhoods of Libreville to promote a massive vote in favor of “Yes”. Renowned for its commitment to social and environmental development, the Colibri association is mobilizing hundreds of Libreville residents around this election, presented as an opportunity for renewal for Gabon.

Since the launch of its awareness campaign on October 14, members of the Colibri association, led by their president Charlotte Aboughe Otsaghe, have traveled the districts of the capital to encourage citizens to take an active part in the electoral process. Under the slogan “ My vote, my commitment, my part for Gabon », the coordinators of the association increase the number of meetings in working-class neighborhoods, sometimes in partnership with the CTRI Panther Movement and the Popular Youth Front (FPJ). The objective is simple: to convince voters of the importance of the constitutional project and the values it promotes.

Charlotte Aboughe Otsaghe, fervent defender of this reform, sees in this constitutional project a foundation for the Gabon of tomorrow. “ We must strive for excellence for our country “, she said during an awareness meeting, comparing the referendum to a ” national exam » where every voice counts. For the Colibri association, say “ Oui » means supporting essential values, including the protection of the family (article 26), the limitation of presidential terms (article 42), and the preservation of national values (article 9).

Mobilizing the Gabonese, a civic act accomplished by the Colibri association

With more than 800,000 voters expected at the polls, the Colibri association calls on each citizen not to remain a spectator, but to become an actor in the future of the nation. By urging voters to “ don’t let anyone decide for them “, the association wishes to recall the importance of this vote, one year after the coup d’état described as ” Liberation » by the current authorities. According to the Colibri association, the referendum is an opportunity to lay the foundations of a Constitution which reflects the values and aspirations of the Gabonese people.

For the Colibri association, this referendum represents a unique chance to place Gabon in a new institutional framework. By committing to the “ Oui “, she hopes to contribute to a united and strengthened nation, supported by strong institutions that protect the rights of its citizens. Through this local campaign, the Colibri association wishes to breathe participatory momentum into each neighborhood and make the referendum of November 16 a democratic success.
