The versatile Senegalese right-back from La Gantoise was forced to give up his place against Standard Liège after suffering head contact.
This Sunday afternoon, La Gantoise welcomes Standard Liège for the 14th day of the Belgian Championship. Having become essential in Wouter Vrancken’s plans, notably in a right piston or winger position, Noah Fadiga (23 matches, 4 goals this season) was logicallystarted for this match. But the 24-year-old Senegalese was unable to complete his meeting.
Former Heracles player Almelo gave a big scare shortly after the half-hour mark. Fadiga was the victim of contact with the skull in an aerial duel with Alexandre Calut. While the Standard defender was being treated on the ground by Liège staff, SénéGalais first staggered near his trainer before falling backwards, inert and visibly unconscious.
After several seconds of panic at the Ghelamco Arena, the player finally came to his senses and was able to get up. His teammates and the Ghent staff then convinced him to give up his place. He would normally be sent to hospital for tests. As a reminder, Noah Fadiga had to leave Stade Brestois in 2023 after being banned from playing in France due to a heart irregularity.
