Questioned on BFMTV, Laurent Nuñez, Paris police prefect, detailed the security system that will be deployed for the match between France and Israel at the Stade de France. A poster classified as high risk.
Thursday November 14 at 8:45 p.m., the French team hosts Israel at the Stade de France in a tense context. After the attacks by Maccabi Tel-Aviv supporters in Amsterdam, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau announced that the Nations League match would be maintained and opposed a possible relocation. Guest at the microphone of BFMTVLaurent Nuñez, Paris police prefect, detailed the entire system planned for this high-risk match.
A system of 4,000 police and gendarmes deployed
If the prefect specifies that the figures may still change during the week, he explains that 2,500 police officers and gendarmes will be deployed around the stadium and 1,500 will be deployed in Paris and in transport. “There will be double control, an anti-terrorist security perimeter around the stadium. We will have a total of 4,000 people on the system” explains Laurent Nuñez.
In addition to these 4,000 deployed law enforcement officers, 1,600 stewards hired by the FFF are also planned, “where on average it is 1,200 or 1,300 for France matches in a sold-out stadium”. He also explains that he “will have a security system around the stadium with double control: at the entrance to the protection perimeter, then at the entrance to the stadium. Each time with identity checks, searches, pat-downs.”
Palestinian flags banned
“There cannot be a Palestinian flag at the Stade de France. There can only be French or Israeli flags, and messages of support for the teams” affirmed the Paris police prefect, opposing any message of a political nature within the Stade de France. “We will not tolerate any excess” says Laurent Nuñez.
