Labastide-Saint-Pierre. Solidarity in the burned Super U

There are certain gestures that speak volumes. Still immersed in the amazement of the fire which affected the Super U supermarket, the main business in Labastide-Saint-Pierre and the surrounding villages, the residents hope for a rapid reopening. Last Tuesday, shortly after the fire was extinguished by the firefighters, this news item fueled many conversations. But some were even more lively and enterprising, the beginnings of a move to action which reinforces the great solidarity on the part of the Bastide residents.

There were fifteen of them

Quickly during the day, but also the next day, the twinning committee decided to mobilize its members in order to invest the damaged shelves of the supermarket: “It was obvious, we could not stay without doing anything, we participated in the cleaning operations of the site and the items on the shelves” reports Daniel Berardo, president of the twinning committee.

Quickly dispatched to the site, around fifteen people lent a helping hand to the supermarket staff, particularly in the hygiene products section: “It’s really touching, I would like to thank them for this precious help which helps to support us a little more in this obviously painful ordeal”, comments director Patrice Marchi on site. Because in the commercial area, the damage is considerable, and it will take a little time for everything to get back to normal.

A rough patch that the twinning committee was able, through its mobilization and dynamism, to smooth out as much as possible. And it is appropriate to salute him.
