He marked generations by playing the terrifying Daniel Robitaille in the Candyman film series. American actor Tony Todd died this Friday, November 8 near Los Angeles, at the age of 69, following a long illness. Information confirmed by his wife to The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
The actress Virginia Madsen, who was his partner in the film released in 1992, paid tribute to him on Instagram. “The great actor Tony Todd has left us and is now an angel. Just like he was in life”she wrote.
Originally from Washington DC, he was really known for his role in the horror film series “Candyman” where he played a hooked-handed killer. Three opuses were made between 1992 and 1999, before a return in 2021 in which the actor played his role again.
Tony Todd also participated in the horror film series “Final Destination” in the early 2000s. He played William Bludworth, the funeral director.
During his career, the American actor has also played roles on the small screen. He notably participated in episodes of very well-known series such as “Charmed”, “CSI: Miami”, “24 Heures Chrono” and “Smallville”.
