Last November 3, Fenerbahçe won on the lawn of Trabzonspor but after this meeting, José Mourinho had turned on the referees in charge of the VAR. A slip-up that will cost him dearly.

“The man of the match was Atilla Karaoglan (referee in charge of the video). He goes from invisible man to the most important man in the game” had notably regretted José Mourinho after the victory of his Fenerbahçe team on the lawn of Trabzonspor (3-2) on November 3. “We will fight them with the players, the opponents and the system” concluded the Special One, whose comments greatly displeased the Turkish football federation. It must be said that the Portuguese technician had gone very far, implying that the VAR had voluntarily acted against Fenerbahçe.

Mourinho dreams of a return to England

For the comments made after the victory at Trabzonspor, José Mourinho was sanctioned with a one-match suspension but above all a fine of 18,000 euros. A controversy which occurs in a context where the potential departure of José Mourinho is making more and more noise in Türkiye, but not only. According to the English press and in particular The Guardiancontacts recently took place between the ex-AS Roma coach and Yasir al-Rumayyan, the president of Newcastle. A return to the Premier League would greatly tempt José Mourinho, who is undoubtedly having a hard time with his downgrade in Turkey and who would dream of returning to England through the front door.
