Actor Tony Todd, eternal performer of Candyman, has died at the age of 69

American actor Tony Todd, famous for his interpretation of “Candyman” and his appearances in the horror film series “Final Destination”, died Wednesday November 6 at the age of 69.

A figure in horror cinema has passed away. On Wednesday, November 6, actor Tony Todd, seen in numerous horror productions, died following a long illness, reports TMZ. Aged 69, he has participated in nearly 250 feature films, series and even video games.

Among these numerous roles, Tony Todd notably distinguished himself by playing the creature Candyman, in the eponymous film by Bernard Rose and adapted from the novel by Clive Barker. He embodied an evil spirit, summonable after saying his name five times, easily recognizable by his hook on his right hand and the bees circling around him.

The actor also aroused the fear of spectators in the “Final Destination” franchise, where he plays the undertaker William Bludworth, specialist in Death and his Machiavellian plans. Todd has also appeared in films like “Rock,” “Platoon,” and “The Crow.”

“The industry has lost a legend. We have lost a dear friend. Rest in peace Tony, signed: Your Final Destination family,” paid tribute on the Instagram account of New Line Cinema, producer of the “Final Destination” saga.

His hoarse and deep voice was greatly appreciated by moviegoers, but also by gamers, since he lent his tone to the character of Venom in “Spider-Man 2”, released last year on PlayStation 5.

According to his IMDB page, Tony Todd is still scheduled to appear in eleven projects, including the sixth installment of “Final Destination,” titled “Bloodlines” and scheduled for 2025, as well as the video game “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” which will be released is scheduled for December 6.
