A Camille Muffat swimming pool inaugurated in , ten years after the death of the French swimmer

The name of Camille Muffat will continue to be associated with French swimming for a long time. More than nine years after her tragic disappearance in Argentina, on the set of a television show, the French swimmer gave her name to a brand new aquatic center, inaugurated in on Wednesday November 6.

A place of learning and competition

The inauguration of this aquatic complex was held in the presence of the swimmer’s family, as well as numerous personalities from French swimming, including Maxime Grousset, several times titled at the French short course championships this year, and Ophélie- Cyrielle Étienne and Mylène Lazare with whom Camille Muffat won a bronze medal at the London Olympics during the 4×200 meters relay.

The Camille Muffat swimming pool has a capacity of 1,000 places, and is fully equipped to accommodate people with disabilities. Beyond being a place for competition, this new swimming pool also aims to allow many young people to learn to swim, while “ more than one in two students do not know how to swim when entering middle school in Seine-Saint-Denis », in the words of Karine Franclet, the mayor (UDI) of Aubervilliers.
