Vic: a crucial match to turn the tide

After a difficult defeat, the USV XV faces the US Vallée du Lot, virtual leader. A victory is essential to avoid stagnating in the middle of the table.

Sunday November 10, the USV XV faces the US Vallée du Lot. Currently tied for first with CO Pont-du-Casse, the Lot-et-Garonnais, who have one game less, are coming off a convincing victory against Magnoac (28-18), while the “bleu et blanc ” returned fanny from their trip to the Baronnies (19-0). Not scoring any points in a match is a first for Vicquois, who fell to fifth place in the group. It must be said that the playing conditions at Baronnies were particularly bad: a pitch on the verge of passability and insufficient lighting for a match which took place in the evening. Certainly, the weather conditions were the same for both teams, but the “Barons” had undoubtedly prepared their move better than the one-night visitors. In addition to the defeat, the Vicquois lost big on this day of the local “chestnut” festival.

The two red cards received by Loïc Salettis and Jimmy Duffau will handicap the “blue and white” squad, as these two players have an important role in the group. The guys of Laurent Barbe and Eric Baron will have to remobilize themselves against a team that is difficult to maneuver and which is the virtual leader of the group.

This is perhaps a first turning point in the season, because, in the event of defeat, the USV big teams to face. Let's hope that this Sunday of the local Saint Martin's Day will also be the celebration of the “blue and white”. The reserve also fell too heavily at the Baronnies (34-10) and will meet a team which is third in the Excellence group B. The task will still be difficult for young “blue and white” who are waiting to score their first championship points; they deserve to succeed against an a priori superior group.
