The Fire and Civil Safety Service (SSIC) of Saint-Charles-Borromée participated in the Tela Bomberos project by sending protective equipment to the firefighters of Tela, Honduras.
This donation includes around fifty combat clothing, helmets, boots and breathing apparatus which are still in good condition, but which are expired by local standards.
The equipment sent will allow Tela firefighters to intervene to protect their community in complete safety.
This project, initiated by Normand St-Pierre, a firefighter at a station in the city of Longueuil, was born after a visit to Honduras.
More than 2,500 combat clothing as well as various emergency equipment have been sent over the years thanks to the efforts of the SSIC and several partners to improve the security of local brigades.
Collaboration with the Honduran authorities also made it possible to provide training to Tela firefighters with the aim of optimizing the use of the new equipment.
