Fire against the Matelles school building: after checks, the establishment can once again welcome students

On the evening of October 31, two cars caught fire under the library of the Matelles elementary school, a town near Saint-Gély-du-Fesc, north of . Due to the nature of the burned materials, a diagnosis of the possible presence of asbestos was carried out this week. He concluded that there was no health risk.

The Matelles elementary school, north of Montpellier, will be able to welcome students again from Tuesday, November 12: this is what the municipality announced on the municipality's Facebook page. The diagnostician and the control office which intervened in the establishment concluded that there was no asbestos, thus ruling out any health risk.

Checks after the fire of two nearby vehicles

These analyzes were carried out after the fire of two cars, on the evening of October 31, under a courtyard adjoining the school library. A fire which, given the materials burned, required, as a precaution, checks to be carried out.

The mayor and the academy inspector have therefore decided to close the school on Thursday November 7 and Friday November 8, while these operations are carried out.
