Sunday, Union Saint-Gilloise welcomes Genk. Sébastien Pocognoli prefaced the meeting in a press conference.
After the 1-1 draw against AS Roma in the Europa League last night, the Union has little time to rest. On Sunday, the Brussels residents will face Genk, the championship leader.
Racing is the team in good form at the start of the season and has almost double the points compared to Union. But Sébastien Pocognoli believes that his team does not have that much to envy of the Limburgers.
“I think we are the two best teams in Belgium in terms of play, so it should be a pleasant spectacle for the neutral spectator,” he said at a press conference, reports Het Nieuwsblad.
Four seasons as a player at Genk, one as a coach
Pocognoli will thus return to the club where his professional career began. In April 2004, he played the first of his 50 matches for Limburg.
“Confront Genk remains indeed special for me, I’m really waiting for this match. I know a lot of familiar faces there and there are also a few youngsters who I coached in the youth teams who are now in the first team. It makes me proud to have been able to instill certain basics in them and to see them now flourish among the big boys” he added.
