The update for Galaxy smartphones dated November 2024 makes Android Auto unusable. This is not strictly speaking a bug, but there is still something to do. Here it is.
There are Android Auto bugs. Not often fortunately, butapplication that connects your smartphone to your car is like all the others: sometimes it no longer works and we don’t really know why. Typically, it only takes a few days to identify the problem and deploy a fix. In the worst case, you have to wait 2 or 3 weeks. The problem spotted among others on the social network Reddit is a little different.
After installing the November 2024 update on his Samsung smartphone, in this case a Galaxy S24 Plus, an Internet user notices thathe can no longer use Android Auto in his vehicle when he connects the mobile to it with a cable. Another bug? No, not this time. The problem comes from a functionality available since One UI 6.0, the software overlay from the Korean manufacturer: the automatic blocker.
How to get Android Auto working again after the latest Galaxy smartphone update
This is a security option that blocks several behaviors that are potentially risky for the security of the device. For example, downloading applications outside of the Play Store, or software updates via USB cable. In principle, this is a good thing. Except that with its latest update, Samsung is toughening the rules: from now on, all USB connections are blocked except charging. Obviously, Android Auto is affected.
The solution is simple in that this new rule takes the form of a deactivatable option. Here’s what to do:
- Go to the Settings of your Galaxy.
- Go to the menu Security and Privacy Then Automatic blockerwhich is necessarily activated if you encounter the problem described.
- On this page, tap Maximum restrictions.
- Disable the option.
- Restart your mobile.
Android Auto returns to normal operation. If you absolutely want to keep the Maximum restrictions active, you will need to turn to a wireless adapter. Unless Samsung rolls out a patch to exclude the app from the system.
