Shortly after 10 p.m. on Thursday November 7, 2024, a major fire broke out in a warehouse located on rue des Carlovingiens, in Colmar. The building, which was used for the storage of industrial equipment but also as an automobile garage, occupied around forty firefighters for a good part of the night.
Although no injuries have been reported, the Haut-Rhin fire and rescue service (SIS 68) specifies that 400 of the 2,000 square meters that the warehouse represents went up in flames. Large explosions were also heard, certainly due to gas cylinders.
Four hoses were used to contain the fire, so that it did not spread to surrounding homes. At 1:40 a.m., the fire was declared extinguished and the operation by the Haut-Rhin firefighters ended at 6 a.m. this Friday, November 8.
For the moment, the origin of the fire remains unknown.
