Bajaj Auto gains a foothold in Europe

Bajaj Auto, one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world, is making a notable entry into the Iberian market thanks to a strategic partnership with the UMA group, and has ambitions for expansion on a European scale.

Bajaj Auto and the UMA group move forward together

As a reminder, the company founded in 1945 by Jamnalal Bajaj went from a small local structure to a heavyweight in the industry, rising to the rank of third largest industrial group in India. Bajaj now has four production plants in India, and recently opened a fifth unit in Brazil in 2024.

With nearly 10,000 employees worldwide, Bajaj Auto stands out for its strategic alliances with prestigious brands such as KTM, Husqvarna and Triumph, accumulating an impressive sales volume of over 21 million motorcycles globally. Driven by values ​​of simplicity and integrity, the Indian brand has successfully established itself in South America, largely thanks to the support of the UMA grouptrusted partner in the distribution of motorcycles and utility vehicles since its creation in 2017.

So, this news, made official during an event organized at the Madrid Hippodrome, is far from being anecdotal.

Portugal, first step in a continental ambition

As part of its establishment in Portugal, Bajaj plans to build an initial network of 10-15 dealershipsthe outlines of which will be clarified in the coming weeks. The UMA group, responsible for leading this expansion, aims to gradually strengthen the brand's presence in other European markets.

Earlier this year, KTM and Bajaj also joined hands to launch a new model, the 650 Duke.

In Portugal, the product range will gradually include new products to diversify the offer. For now, two new models will accompany this new phase: le Dominar 400 (main image) and the Pulsar NS 125. Intended for A2 license holders, the first combines sporty looks and touring capabilities. The Pulsar NS 125, for its part, targets a younger audience as well as B license holders, by offering an option naked attractive.

Thus, this arrival on the Iberian market marks a decisive step in Bajaj Auto's European expansion strategy, paving the way for a potential establishment beyond the peninsula. To be continued…
