In Rennes, this Saturday, November 2, 2024, around 4:30 p.m., while he was on the footbridge, near the Pontchaillou University Hospital, a 19-year-old young man was violently attacked by two individuals. One of them stabbed him several times. The second then made him fall to the ground by kicking him in the legs, before hitting him in the face. “Two witnesses immediately intervened to assist the victim and take him to the Emergency Department where he died shortly after,” recalled Frédéric Teillet, public prosecutor, in our columns a few days ago.
The same evening, an 18-year-old young man presented himself at the police station. In police custody, he admitted to having wanted to settle “a dispute”, without specifying what nature. To do this, he had bought a knife shortly before the incident. “He admitted to having carried out the blows, before using his right to silence. » Since then, the individual convicted three times by the Rennes children's court for aggravated theft and for misdeeds linked to drugs had been imprisoned.
But the second attacker was still on the run. “As part of a rogatory commission from the investigating judge, he was identified, arrested, placed in police custody,” confirmed this evening, the public prosecutor, Frédéric Teillet. “He was presented to the investigating magistrate who indicted him for murder and placed in pre-trial detention by the judge of freedoms and detention, as requested by the Rennes public prosecutor's office. This is a 22-year-old young man already convicted of acts of violence, kidnapping and confinement and possession of drugs. »
