“If someone wants to reconnect, that doesn’t bother me”: Vladimir Putin congratulates Donald Trump and says he is “ready” to resume dialogue

The Russian president spoke at a forum, congratulating Donald Trump on his upcoming return to the White House.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was “ready to resume contact” with Donald Trump after the Republican’s victory in the US presidential election, for which he congratulated him.

“If someone wants to resume contact, I don’t mind. I’m ready,” Putin said at a forum, speaking of Trump. “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on his election to the presidency of the United States,” he added.

This statement follows numerous others that have been addressed to Trump since Wednesday morning by several heads of state and political figures, after his resounding victory in the presidential election, against Kamala Harris, the current Vice-President.

“I think we will talk,” responded the American president-elect in an interview broadcast Thursday by NBC, adding that he had probably had discussions with 70 international leaders since Wednesday.

“Not a cent”

During a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban last month, Trump said he would “force an end to the war” in Ukraine because he “wouldn’t give a cent” more to help kyiv. A false statement according to the press, but which has never been publicly denied by Trump.
