Halo Studios still monetizes nostalgia at a high price, the €25 armor is debated | Xbox

On the occasion of the deployment of Operation Great Journey in Halo Infinite, Halo Studios took the opportunity to offer for sale a lot allowing you to display the famous Mjolnir Mark IV armor worn by the Master Chief in Halo 2, 3 and 4 However, its price is clearly disappointing, as this new update aims to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Halo 2.

Halo Studios still monetizes nostalgia at a high price

The legendary prize Rocket recoverer is now available in the Halo Infinite store for 2,600 credits. If it is now common for cosmetic content to be offered at a high price in our games, it is particularly unfortunate in the case of this pack, since it aims to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Halo 2, a game which highly participated to the rise of Xbox.

Contents of the pack Rocket recoverer

  • Armor Kit: Major’s Mark IV
  • Armor Texture: Green Man
  • Weapon Model: Veteran SPNKr
  • Weapon Texture: Veteran’s Metal

As is the case in all service games now, the in-game currency does not allow you to know exactly how many euros you have to pay to get your hands on the content for sale. So, to obtain this lot, you must spend at least €24.98 (a pack of 500 credits at €4.99 and a pack of 2000 + 200 credits at €19.99). Note that if you are a Game Pass subscriber, you then benefit from a 10% discount, bringing the price down to €22.48.

Note also that by opting for these two packs to obtain the legendary prize, you will then have a residual of 100 credits.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Halo Studios has monetized players’ nostalgia in this way. Last year, the Mark V armor kit from Halo: Combat Evolved was made available for purchase for 2,200 credits, or €19.99, or €17.99 for Game Pass subscribers.

This time again, we can find many comments from fans on social networks who react negatively.

Note, however, that aside from this, Operation Great Journey, aimed at celebrating Halo 2, introduced a superb playlist with redone maps, as well as rules specific to Halo 2. TPS mode and many others new features have also been integrated.
