This is a 22-year-old man already convicted of acts of violence, kidnapping and sequestration and possession of drugs, specifies the Rennes public prosecutor, Frédéric Teillet.

He is “suspected of having participated in the assassination” of a 19-year-old young person, Saturday afternoon near the Pontchaillou University Hospital. “A dispute” at the origin of the murder

The victim was hit by two people while he was on a footbridge overlooking the railway tracks near the university hospital. One of the attackers stabbed him several times, the second then made him fall to the ground and punched him in the face, the prosecutor said at the start of the week.

Two witnesses immediately intervened to help the victim and take her to the emergency room, where she died. In the evening, an 18-year-old boy presented himself to the Rennes police station, admitting to being the author of the stabbings. He explained in police custody “that he wanted to settle a 'dispute' with the victim, without specifying what nature, and that to do this, he had bought a knife shortly before the events”, according to the prosecutor.
