While Jean-Noël Barrot made a trip on Thursday, November 7, to Jerusalem, Israel, it was marked by a diplomatic incident. Indeed, according to the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Israeli police entered “armed” and “without authorization” on a site managed by France. He denounced an “unacceptable situation” and refused to enter the Church of the Pater Noster in Jerusalem (also called Eleona), a pilgrimage site.
According to an RFI correspondent on site, “Israeli police arrested two French gendarmes in the area of the Eleona, French property in East Jerusalem. The gendarmes had asked the police not to enter this place” before the planned visit of Jean-Noël Barrot.
