The Dutch Cycling Federation has announced the new coach of the women’s team and it is Laurens Ten Dam. Former runner, notably of the Rabobank and the Team Sunweb, Laurens Ten Dam had taken control of the national Gravel team, leading Mathieu van der Poel towards a first title in the specialty this year. But Ten Dam wanted more, and so he succeeded Loes Gunnewijk.

“Working as a group towards the big races”
“During my work as national gravel coach and in particular during the World Championships in Leuven, I noticed that I really missed playing at the highest sporting level. Working as a group towards major races such as the European Championships, the World Cup and of course the Olympic Games. As a former experienced runner, I am embarking on this adventure without prejudice and this is how I want to work with athletes. They need to be able to count on me and I expect it to be the other way around. I don’t need to teach anyone how to ride a bike, they are all top riders. It’s really about building a team with a clear purpose and mission.” declared Ten Dam.
