THE “Territorial factories“are general third places which develop local services and economic activities within fragile territories : priority neighborhoods of the city (QPV), sparsely populated rural areas and “France Ruralités Revitalisation” (FRR) zones.
Territorial factories have a role of supporting the development of other third places, either in individualized support, or by carrying out collective projects capable of aggregating capacities, skills, initiatives over large geographical areas by affecting a large audience.
Launched in January 2020, the support system enabled the labeling of 407 “Territorial factories“.
In 2024, out of 312 applications, 80 projects will win the label:
- 25 are new winners;
- and 55 were “relabeled because of their ability to demonstrate a shift in their activity to a larger scale, particularly in terms of transition, and with the support of one or more local authorities”.
The 10e The labeling wave aimed to: “support multi-activity, innovative places that create wealth and jobs, capable of contributing to making territories more accessible, more sober and better equipped”.
The activities of the selected projects include:
- culture and education (the vast majority);
- solidarity;
- agro-food and artisanal production;
- reuse.
80% of the winners are associations, the others are mainly private law companies relating to the social and solidarity economy and structures originating from local authorities.
