relive the 48 hours Donald Trump beat Kamala Harris

Donald Trump became the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday. Here are the main points of his ultra-conservative political program to remember:

Economy and purchasing power

Donald Trump is promising there “end inflation and make America affordable again”, purchasing power being one of the main concerns of the vote across the Atlantic. He said he wanted to introduce customs duties of “more than 10%” on all imports, which will allow it to finance a large tax cut – a move that economists have warned against, saying it will raise prices.

• Immigration

In his speech in which he claimed his victory, Donald Trump promised to “repairing borders” from the United States, while, under the Biden presidency, the country saw a spike in illegal entries. In particular, he promises to launch, from the first day of his mandate, “the largest expulsion operation” illegal immigrants in the history of the United States.

• Abortion

Two and a half years after the revocation of Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court, which guaranteed federal protection of abortion, the issue was one of the hottest of the campaign, as at least 20 states implemented partial or total restrictions of the IVG. During the campaign, Donald Trump said he was proud to have put the subject back in the hands of the States while declaring that certain “had gone too far”.

• Foreign policy

The ultra-conservative Republican defends an isolationist position while ensuring that he would end conflicts in the world – without ever specifying how. He has already said he wants to lead an agreement with Russia and has often denounced the aid sent by Washington to kyiv since the beginning of 2022. He is also a fervent supporter of Israel, but has rarely mentioned his proposals to end the war which continues to rage in Gaza.

• Climate

Climate skeptic Donald Trump has promised to reverse subsidies for renewable energy and electric vehicles, and has also planned to “drill at all costs” and exit the agreement again.
