CALIFORNIA – Impressive images. A forest fire spread at full speed on Wednesday, November 6 near the town of Camarillo, located northwest of Los Angeles. It quickly spread over more than 5,500 hectares, fueled by a powerful Santa Anna wind, a Californian wind that regularly creates conditions conducive to fires in the region.

Mega fire in California: the “Park Fire” is already sadly historic for the region

Authorities have ordered the evacuation of more than 10,000 people as many homes and structures are threatened by the fire called « The Mountain Fire » (“The fire of the mountain”). A dozen houses were destroyed while two people were injured by smoke inhalation.

According to Ventura County firefighters, more than 800 of them were mobilized in the evening to try to contain the fire on the ground and in the air. On the same day, another fire broke out further south, in Malibu. The latter spread over nearly 13 hectares before being contained by firefighters.

These fires occur in a region regularly affected by destructive fires. In September, three uncontrollable megafires around Los Angeles led authorities to declare a state of emergency. In 2018, the « Woosley Fire » had destroyed more than 1,600 homes and killed three people.
