“I took the initiative of creating a memorial, a simple and sober place, a few steps from the place where she was found.” The mayor of Sermoise-sur-Loire, Manuel de Jesus, announced this Thursday in a letter published on Facebook that he wishes to create a place where everyone can come “to meditate, remember and pay homage” to Lina, whose body was was found on October 16 in this town of Nièvre. A discovery that deeply shocked the residents. Since that day, the mayor says he still receives “countless testimonies of sadness and solidarity”.
“The pain of this community is immense, and in the face of it, it is impossible to remain still,” adds the elected official. He clarified that this place will not be financed by municipal funds. “I appeal to your generosity to allow a sculptor to create this symbol of our shared sadness,” he declared. Since then, a fundraiser has been opened to finance this project.
The 15-year-old teenager disappeared on September 23, 2023 in Bas-Rhin. She was found in an isolated wooded area of this town. His body was submerged in a stream, located below an embankment. The young girl had not given any further news after leaving her home on foot to go to the Saint-Blaise-la-Roche station (Bas-Rhin) from where she had to take the train to join her boyfriend.
