A major fire occurred in the town of Penchard (Seine-et-Marne) on the night of Tuesday November 5 to Wednesday November 6, 2024. The exterior part of a car garage caught fire and 27 cars were completely ravaged by the flames . “It’s a disaster”confides the manager in the columns of the newspaper The Marne .
The fire is said to have started around 2 a.m. Alerted by witnesses, around thirty firefighters quickly went to the scene. They brought the fire under control around 4 a.m. The garage manager was alerted by his employee two hours later. “It was a shock for me, I had to go there immediately”he tells our colleagues.
A dispute with a customer
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, specifies The Parisian. Only the exterior part of the garage was affected, the company building was spared. The 27 cars burned, however, represent a significant financial loss for the company.
An investigation was opened to determine the origin of the disaster. For his part, the boss is convinced that it is a “act of vandalism”. He says he had a dispute with a customer six months ago, who had threatened to “burn everything”.
