Tay Ninh (VNA) – A delegation from Cambodia's Tboung Kh'Mum province visited the public security department of Tay Ninh province, southern Vietnam, on November 6 to express gratitude to the support provided in the fight against a fire that recently occurred in the Ponhia Kret district.

Leading the delegation, Major General Sui Bun Hieng, deputy director for fire and explosives control at the Tboung Kh'Mum Public Security Department, thanked the Tay Ninh public security forces for their rapid intervention, which made it possible to contain the fire on November 3, thus limiting its spread.

During the meeting, Colonel Tran Van Luan, deputy director of the Tay Ninh Public Security Department, said that this assistance reflects the close cooperation, friendship and solidarity between the two provinces, especially in the fight against against fires and more broadly in the field of public safety.

The fire broke out on November 3 around 8:30 a.m. on the seventh floor of a gaming establishment in the Ponhia Kret district, Tboung Kh'Mum province. Despite the intervention of three Cambodian fire engines, the situation proved difficult to control, prompting local authorities to seek help from the neighboring province of Tay Ninh.

In response, Vietnamese authorities dispatched a team of 15 firefighters and three vehicles. When they arrived, the flames had already spread to three rooms on the seventh floor, covering an area of approximately 80 m². Smoke and toxic fumes had filled the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh floors. Tay Ninh firefighters were able to rescue four injured people trapped on the fifth and sixth floors. The fire was completely brought under control at 1:30 p.m. the same day. -VNA
