A large fire ravages the northwest suburbs of Los Angeles, another threatens the upscale city of Malibu

EMERGENCY EVACUATION – A violent fire northwest of Los Angeles ravages homes and farmland, driven by winds of 130 km/h. More than 3,600 hectares have already been consumed

A large-scale fire broke out Wednesday morning northwest of Los Angeles, destroying homes and farmland under the effect of violent winds, which pushed the flames to the outskirts of upscale residential suburbs.

While the fire season is not yet over in California, authorities have called on residents of at-risk areas, particularly north of the city of Camarillo, to evacuate. Camarillo, located about sixty miles from central Los Angeles, is surrounded by hills now shrouded in thick smoke.

Winds reaching up to 130 km/h complicate the efforts of firefighters, also hampering the deployment of aerial resources. “The situation is terrible,” said an employee of a ranch dedicated to horse breeding, during an interview for a local television channel. “We are trying to get them all out,” she added, as images showed animals being placed in trailers to be urgently evacuated.
