This Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 9 p.m., the Ligue 1 match will take place at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium as part of the 9e championship day between the teams of Lens and Lille.
Meetings between the two teams have already given rise to pre-match abuses and clashes, sometimes serious and caused by a very violent extremist minority, as was the case on September 18, 2021 in Lens.
With regard to the commitments made by the representatives of the supporters of the two clubs and in order to guarantee the smooth running of this meeting, as well as the safety of people and in agreement with the leaders of the two clubs, Jacques Billant, prefect of Pas-de-Calais, decided by decree of 18 October 2024 attached, to take measures to control the movement of Lille supporters applicable from Friday October 25 at 6 p.m. to Sunday October 27 at 2 a.m. :
- LOSC supporters who have obtained an entry ticket to the stadium will travel exclusively by coach and must go at 4 p.m. to a meeting point set in the Baudoin IX car park in Villeneuve d'Ascq (near the Pierre Mauroy stadium) from from which they will be accompanied by the police services to reach the Bollaert-Delelis stadium in Lens. At the end of the match, these supporters will be escorted and supervised to the Lille metropolis. This measure aims to ensure their own safety and avoid excesses that could be very violent on the part of a minority of supporters.
- From Friday October 25 at 6 p.m. to Sunday October 27 at 2 a.m., any person claiming to be a LOSC supporter, or behaving as such, will be prohibited from driving or parking on public roads within the perimeter defined by the prefectural decree.
- Lille supporters cannot claim to be Lille supporters or behave as such within the perimeter defined by the prefectural decree and in the Bollaert-Delelis stadium, outside the sector reserved for them in the sports arena.
- In the Bollaert-Delelis stadium and its surroundings, within the perimeter described by the prefectural decree, the possession, transport and use of all firecrackers or smoke bombs, flags and banners whose inscriptions call for provocation, violence or hatred, as well as any objects that could be used as a projectile. The possession and transport of all alcoholic beverages is also prohibited.
Failure to comply with these measures is punishable by six months' imprisonment and a fine of €30,000. In the event of conviction, the additional penalty of a one-year stadium ban is mandatory, unless there is a specially reasoned decision to the contrary.
The prefect of Pas-de-Calais calls on Lille and Lens supporters to behave in a dignified and commendable manner, to show respect towards each other and to honor the common values included in the notion of “sportsmanship” , namely tolerance, integration, respect, fair play and non-violence. The fervor initiated by this derby should not make us forget the rules and responsibilities of each person.
