Waze wants to use AI to allow users to report an incident – TOM.travel

The Waze application is enriched with a new artificial intelligence-based functionality that will allow users to report out loud.

Drivers will no longer have to take their hands off the wheel to notify Waze of an incident on the road. The application is in fact working on a new functionality based on AI and voice recognition to allow a user to report any incident out loud. “Waze will understand what you say and quickly add real-time reporting to the map, without the need to use a specific voice command or press additional buttons”detailed Google, in charge of developing this new functionality via its tools. As a reminder, Google is none other than the parent company of Waze.

A feature available “in a few months”

To report the incident, the driver will only have to press the “report” button and make their indication out loud. Questions may be asked by Waze in the event that additional details or information are necessary to identify the current event. To date, the functionality is only tested by a few people. The date of a large-scale deployment, particularly in the French version, has not yet been communicated but Google assures that this is only a matter of “a few months”.
