Marie Landry receives the Hommage Aînés Prize for the North Shore

Marie Landry of Havre-Saint-Pierre was honored yesterday for 40 years of dedication to her community. She received the Prix Hommage Aînés from the Quebec government for the North Shore.

The Minister responsible for Seniors Sonia Bélanger showed her gratitude to him at the National Assembly as part of the 25e Elder Tribute Awards ceremony. This great volunteer has worked within several associations with the desire to improve the quality of life of seniors in the region.

Dedicated to seniors

She has been involved in the Minganie Volunteer Action Center since 2018. Despite the pitfalls, Marie Landry always kept the confidence of her team and overcame the difficulties brilliantly. Her extensive knowledge of Minganie’s issues, her attention to detail and her innovative ideas allow her to contribute to the development of services for seniors, always with the aim of breaking their isolation.

Determined and persevering, Marie Landry gives of her time without counting and always with a smile, remaining optimistic and enthusiastic in the face of daily challenges. Loving to be of service: this is what drives Mme Landry wants to make a difference in the lives of his fellow citizens every day.

The government of Quebec highlighted the exceptional volunteer commitment of 17 people in 17 regions. The Senior Tribute Awards encourage the successes of people who promote the well-being of older people. The winners are recommended by the Regional Seniors Consultation Tables.

“Their actions and their desire to help each other are inspiring and unequivocally demonstrate that age is not an obstacle to an enriching and stimulating life,” comments Minister Sonia Bélanger.
