Following a reveal at CIIE 2024, the LEGO Group has now officially revealed the LEGO Monkie Kid and Chinese New Year sets.
The LEGO Group has offered more photos and international prices for two LEGO Monkie Kid and three seasonal Chinese New Year sets, after those for CIIE 2024 were revealed first. It is now confirmed that all five sets will be released on January 1, 2025, ushering in the new year with an explosion of color.

80065 Erlang’s Heavenly Mecha

80065 Erlang’s Celestial Mech features an articulated robot, with numerous play features like a cockpit, two stud shooters and a spear, as well as additional side builds like a hoverbike, a “floating” cloud. 80066 Mythical creature Qilin

In a build that brings together several mythical beasts into one, 80066 Mythical Creature Qilin is fully articulated. Similar to the other LEGO Monkie Kid, he has two stud shooters in his armor and a two-seater saddle that transforms into an airplane. To complete the build, a food cart with stud shooter is also included, along with Monkie Kid, Mei, Sandy, Pigsy and a Sky Warrior minifigures, plus Mo the Cat for good measure.

Moving on to the LEGO Group’s seasonal Chinese New Year sets for 2025, 80116 Trotting Lantern is an intricate Chinese lantern, with sections that open to reveal a vibrant interior. It also includes a light brick to add to the lantern ambiance, plus three separate festive scenes, with a buildable food stand, decoration stand and shadow play. Designed to be built by multiple people at the same time, 80117 Good Fortune is designed to be an interactive way for parents to share cultural traditions with young people. To teach Chinese culture icons, a variety of objects are included to represent love, good health, prosperity and joy, such as a fan decorated with two magpies – to remind that good things come in pairs – flying at -above a branch of spring flowers, a vase of makeshift red berries, persimmon fruits, gold ingots and a calligraphy pen with a scroll showing Chinese text meaning “spring”.
40813 Lucky cat

Last but not least, the smallest and most affordable is 40813 Lucky Cat, priced at just £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99. There appears to be printed elements for the cat’s eyes and ears, with details like the whiskers and paw pads as well. There are also personalization options, with the option to choose between a gold coin decoration or the wish for good fortune written on the belly.
