Nine municipalities in Normandy have just been recognized as being in a state of natural disaster by a decree of October 14, 2024 published on the 1is November to Official Journal . A recognition which should allow people affected by the floods and mudslides of recent months to be better compensated.

Three Normandy departments concerned
Concerned in Orne: Courtomer (July 31), Croisilles (July 31), La-Ferrière-aux-Étangs (July 31), La Fresnaie-Fayel (May 11), Gouffern-en-Auge (July 31) , Val-au-Perche (July 30). In the Channel: Bridges (May 19). In Seine-Maritime: Martainville-Épreville (July 30) and Sotteville-sur-Mer (September 5).

One month to make the declaration
“The state of natural disaster noted by the decree allows the insured to be entitled to guarantee for the effects of the natural disaster on the property covered by the insurance contracts referred to in the insurance code, when the damage direct material damage is caused by the effects of the disaster and that the usual measures to be taken to prevent this damage could not prevent their occurrence or could not be taken.it is indicated in a press release.

The victims have a period of thirty clear days from the date of publication of the decree in Official Journal to file, if they have not already done so, a claim declaration and an estimated statement of their losses with their insurer.
