An information meeting raised awareness among residents of downtown Samatan about the risks of flooding. About twenty people were present
An information meeting was held in the Jean-Claude-Brialy room in Samatan to raise awareness among residents of the city center about the risk of flooding. Co-organized by the municipality and the management union of the Save and its tributaries (SYGESAVE), this meeting brought together around twenty people, including elected officials, local residents and representatives of the Barousse du Comminges water union and of the Save (SEBCS). To complete the introduction by Hervé Lefebvre, mayor of Samatan, and Jean-Luc Dupoux, president of SYGESAVE, a film of a few minutes entitled “Territories better prepared for floods” was shown.

Looking back on the January 2022 flood allowed us to better understand local issues and the measures necessary to prevent future risks. The SYGESAVE flood action plan includes future operations on Samatan, such as the installation of a level probe on the canal to alert in the event of flooding and vulnerability diagnostics offered to volunteer residents.
At the end of the meeting, around ten people registered to benefit from this system.

Other projects, such as the installation of limnimetric scales and “Vigicrues” type monitoring stations upstream, also aim to strengthen security along the Save. The municipality of Samatan, for its part, recently invested in two pumps, ready to be made available in the event of flooding of homes. An advice document for limiting the vulnerability of homes was given to the twenty people present, thus completing this meeting.
