The “Stop Genocide” collective was able to defend its position with the French Football Federation (FFF). The day after the action of around forty pro-Palestine activists, who temporarily occupied the premises of the body, Monday in Paris, two delegates were received shortly before 6 p.m. in the premises of the 3F, this Tuesday.
These activists are calling for the cancellation of the Nations League match between France and Israel, Thursday, November 14 at the Stade de France. “The leaders of the Federation told us that they understood the very strong emotion caused by the prospect of this match, that they were aware of it. But that as soon as they had learned of the draw, they had contacted public authorities and UEFA to express their concerns and that these two authorities had told them no, you can and you must organize this match”, confided one of the two delegates of the collective to Le Parisien.
“We told them courteously but firmly that our campaign was continuing”
The hypothesis of the cancellation of this meeting is therefore ruled out by the FFF. Just like the relocation abroad, like the option taken by Belgium against the Israeli selection, with a match organized in Debrecen (Hungary) on September 6. “They told us that the French team, by contract, had the obligation to play at the Stade de France, in Saint-Denis,” adds the member of the collective in the columns of Le Parisien. The latter, however, lets it be known that “Stop Genocide” does not intend to give up: “We responded courteously but firmly that our campaign was continuing.”
The French team must face the Israeli selection for the 5th day of the League of Nations at the Stade de France, “a high-risk match” in the context of war in the Middle East, the police prefect said on October 17 Laurent Nuñez. The meeting will be supervised by “an extremely reinforced security system outside and inside” the enclosure, he further specified.
