Tours : 82
Vitreous: 64
The Tours MB continues its series. The Touraine club piled up a sixth success in a row in the championship, this Tuesday, November 5 at Monconseil, where it still remains undefeated.
This time, it was Aurore de Vitré who paid the price, after giving up in the last quarter, to the great dismay of their coach Fabien Calvez. On the Touraine side, on the other hand, satisfaction was full.
Cédric Heitz (Tours coach): “We worked closely with this Vitré team. We stuck to our strategy and it paid off. We knew she was one of the best in offensive rebounding, and we only gave them six. There was a real focus on that, and on not giving them second chances. We did what was necessary to defend the racket. We pay for all that a bit with three-point shots, of course. Sometimes that's the price to pay.
Pierre-Étienne (Drouault) returned to his best level in this match, with real leadership, weight in scoring and assists. He created a lot. We can also highlight the contribution of Théo (Léon) once again, and our two pivots are really complementary. We can be satisfied. It's a match that promises to be complicated, but we overcome the obstacle and we can go free to Quimper to try to score a blow there. »
Fabien Calvez (Vitré coach): “Defensively, we did not respect our identity, in the fight, in the activity that we must carry out. We made excuses and didn't impact this team the way we should have. In attack, we have ball losses which should not be made at this level. It's a no match. »
Pierre-Étienne Drouault (back of Tours): “Vitré had two main strengths: his defense, with a lot of interceptions, and offensive rebounds. The goal was to control the ball, not to give them ammunition, because we knew they could throw it very hard. We were pretty good at that. Now, we have a defensive base which means that we concede few points. We're on a good series, but we're going to follow up with a big piece (Quimper, the leader). This match will really be revealing of what we can do this season I think. »
